Diabetes Treatment Concerns for Individuals with I/DD

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic conditions in adults with I/DD and can result in serious complications if not managed appropriately. In this session, we’ll discuss the top diabetes concerns among this population and how to best manage the disease for optimal outcomes and quality of life.

We’ll focus on treatment options and the unique factors that may impact therapy decisions such as common comorbidities, concerns around metabolic symptoms and compliance/adherence, and medication administration challenges and the importance of support for DSPs. The program will conclude with tips for leveraging your consultant pharmacist to improve individuals’ health, safety, and care.
