2025 Diabetes Treatment Updates for Individuals with I/DD

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions among adults with I/DD, often leading to serious complications if not properly managed. This session will explore the key concerns surrounding diabetes in this population, including strategies for effective disease management to enhance both health outcomes and quality of life.

We will examine treatment options while considering unique factors that influence therapy decisions, including common comorbidities, metabolic concerns, adherence challenges, and medication administration difficulties. The session will conclude with practical tips on collaborating with consultant pharmacists to optimize health, safety, and overall diabetes care for individuals with I/DD.
